We  shake our heads and wonder as we encounter each change in our Healthcare system from day to day. We wonder almost aloud ” what next?” We have doubts about the competency of most providers and with very good reasons.
It was not always like this. Doctors don’t become doctors just to get rich. No, Greed does not compel them to endure the grueling hours of medical school and the sleepless nights of internships and residencies. Believe me when I tell you this. It takes more than money and fortitude to become a Doctor. It takes a genuine desire to help others and strive to make the world a better place. Although nowadays there are some greedy factors in the decision of some, not all, Doctors.
However, once they arrive at that Holy Grail of Medicine, they get a real surprise. They can continue to be dedicated and empathetic, or they can choose to either starve or play ball with big pharma and Insurance companies. Many of these Doctors find ways to get wealthy along with big Pharma and Insurance companies. I will tell you all about the many ways they do this in another article.
Big Pharma owns the healthcare world today, and insurance companies are riding that same wave! They are co-conspirators. When Doctors don’t play ball, they don’t make money. How do they survive when they need to live and pay their student loans of about half a million dollars and upward, plus pay to build their practice? They may resist at first, but sooner or later, they find life is so much easier when you realize you can’t fight the big boys and that golden rule does exist.” The guys with the gold do make the rules.”
Then we have Nurse Practitioners. The Registered Nurses who have become overworked and understaffed (usually on purpose on the health facility’s part) until they’re exhausted and decide to pursue an advanced degree to make a real difference and possibly improve their living situation, only to discover they must also play by the rules. Not all feel that way; some stick to their conviction as much as they can and actually give excellent patient care, while others jump on the bandwagon and seek fame and money. After all , you can’t blame them if it makes their life easier. They have had a tough row to hoe as well. I personally do not believe American Doctors nor Nurses make that decision out of greed. They work too hard and go into way too much debt on purpose to take the easy way out and risk losing their license. They are backed into corners and manipulated until it is just too late. I truly believe that Big Pharma and the insurance Company big boys are really responsible. It is truly a problem of economic nd financial advisors who have mastered this greed.
Hospitals are being acquired by large medical management companies and private equity groups  primarily driven by profit, while others are managed by companies that show no concern for patient well-being at all.  The days of hospitals being run by the Good Sisters of Charity are long gone. The beautiful saintly names are in fact being exploited by these same management companies with only greed in mind. They know that a hospital with the name of a saint gives patients a bit of a false sense of security.
I will explain each situation in detail as I recount my experiences. To help seniors understand what is really going on. Then and only then can you make a decision to help yourself avoid the bad remedies of healthcare and actually affect cures for your own comorbidities and ailments.
